BLOOM BUS

Description:

The BloomBus project has the goal of trying to create a GPS tracking system for campus shuttle buses running on the campus loop, to provide students with a more accurate sense of when buses will arrive and if they are running. Started by now-alumni Rio Weber and Dan Pany, the project began with Dan's idea to use Arduino development boards in conjunction with GPS and XBee radio units to transmit coordinates back to a remote server. With their work, the project now has a working prototype and accompanying application for displaying the location of a single tracker on Google Maps in realtime.

The current ACM members are seeking to:

• Add simultaneous tracking of multiple buses
• Implement ETA for each bus stop
• Solve hardware limitations of the radios If you have any interest in working on this project, contact John Gibson or any other ACM officer.
